Privacy policy
Last updated: October 2026
This policy explains what information Post Softly ("this site") collects, why, and the choices you have. I've tried to keep it short and in plain English.
Who runs this site
This site is run by Reo, an individual based in Osaka, Japan. I am responsible for the personal information described in this policy (the "data controller"). You can contact me at [email protected].
The short version
- I use Google Analytics 4 to see which articles are useful. If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK, or Switzerland, analytics cookies are used only after you click Accept.
- This site doesn't use advertising cookies, and I don't sell your personal information.
- When you click a paid link, the company's website may set its own cookies.
- You can change your cookie choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page.
What information is collected
Google Analytics 4
This site uses Google Analytics 4, a service from Google, to collect information such as:
- the pages you view and how long you stay on them
- your approximate location, such as country and city
- your type of device, browser, operating system, and screen size
- how you found this site, for example from Pinterest, a search engine, or another website
- clicks on affiliate links, including which program and product the link was for and which page it was on
I see this information as totals and trends, not as a profile of you. According to Google, Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Your cookie choice
When you click Accept or Decline, your choice is saved in your own browser (in "local storage," under the name
analytics-consent) so the banner doesn't appear on every page. It isn't sent to me.
Emails you send me
If you email me, I receive your email address and whatever you write. I use it only to reply to you and to handle your request. I don't add you to any mailing list.
Cookies and your choices
Google Analytics uses first-party cookies, such as _ga and _ga_<ID>, to tell
visits and visitors apart. By default, these cookies can last up to two years.
This site uses Google Consent Mode to respect your choice:
- EEA, UK, and Switzerland (including Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway): analytics cookies are off by default. They are used only if you click Accept.
- Everywhere else: analytics cookies are on by default. You can turn them off at any time by clicking Decline.
- Advertising features are always off. Ad storage, ad user data, and ad personalization are set to "denied" for every visitor.
When analytics cookies are off, Google Analytics doesn't store or read cookies on your device. Google may still receive limited signals without cookies (for example, that a page was loaded, the time, and basic browser information), which it uses to estimate overall traffic. These signals don't include a cookie identifier.
You can change your mind at any time:
- Click "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page and choose Accept or Decline.
- Use your browser settings to block or delete cookies. Clearing this site's data also resets your banner choice.
- Install Google's opt-out browser add-on: tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Hosting
This site is hosted by Cloudflare. When you visit, Cloudflare processes technical information, such as your IP address and browser details, to deliver the pages and protect the site from attacks. Cloudflare may keep this information in its logs for security purposes. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
Affiliate partners
When you click a paid link, you leave this site. The company or affiliate network on the other side may set cookies and collect information so that a purchase can be credited to me. Their own privacy policies apply on their sites, not this one. I use the reports they share with me only to see which articles are helpful and to receive commissions.
How long information is kept
- Google Analytics: event-level data is kept for 14 months and then deleted automatically by Google. Summary reports may remain.
- Your cookie choice: stays in your browser until you clear it or change it.
- Emails: kept only as long as needed to handle your message, and after that only if I need them for my records or a legal reason.
Legal bases (EEA and UK visitors)
- Analytics cookies: your consent. You can withdraw it at any time with "Cookie settings."
- Hosting and security logs: my legitimate interest in keeping the site running safely.
- Replying to emails: my legitimate interest in answering your message.
For visitors outside these regions, I rely on my legitimate interest in understanding which articles are useful.
International transfers
I'm based in Japan, and Google and Cloudflare may process information in the United States and other countries. Each company describes how it protects international transfers in its own privacy policy.
I don't sell your personal information
I don't sell or rent personal information. I also don't "share" it for cross-context behavioral advertising, as that term is used in California law.
Your rights
If you live in the EEA or the UK
You can ask to access the personal information I hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can also object to or ask me to limit how I use it, and withdraw your consent at any time. If you're unhappy with how I handle your information, you can complain to your local data protection authority.
If you live in California
You have the right to know what personal information I collect and how I use it, the right to ask me to delete it, and the right to opt out of its sale or sharing. I don't sell or share personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you're welcome to contact me. I won't treat you differently for using these rights.
If you live in Japan
Under Japan's Act on the Protection of Personal Information, you can ask me to disclose, correct, or stop using the personal information I hold about you.
How to make a request
Email me at [email protected]. I'll reply within one month. Google Analytics data isn't connected to your name or email, so I usually can't find "your" analytics data. The quickest way to control it is to click Decline in "Cookie settings" or use Google's opt-out add-on.
Children
This site is not directed to children under 13, and I don't knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent me personal information, please contact me and I'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
I may update this policy, for example if I add a new tool or feature such as an email newsletter. When I do, I'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
